THE PATH OF DELICIOUS CREATIVITY

A creative collaboration between Sai Villafuerte and
Kat Fernando, circumnavigating the worlds of food and creativity.

In a world grappling with the challenges brought on cultural appropriation, what can the history of food tell us about our lives and what can our lives tell us about the food we eat?

PLEASE STAND BY

— is a new music concept, celebrating the art of slowing down in the public space.

We were inspired by our long-time fascination to ‘budots’, a peculiar genre of Filipino electronic music that combines Bajau drum beats with the blip synths of ‘90s Eurodance. In the Visayan language, budots translates to the Tagalog slang ‘tambay’ — a play on the words “stand by,” meaning a loiterer with too much time.

Driven by a desire to build community, albeit, without a public space to occupy, ‘Please Stand By’ challenges notions that “doing nothing” is detrimental for our well-being — a love letter to our public spaces, whether through a livestream or on the curb outside your street.

01

— We published a newsletter, compiling music playlists, food recipes and stores from members of the cultural and creative sectors, reflecting on the public space and on slowing down. Some of our contributors include: Jeremy Chan, head chef and co-founder of Ikoyi; Sean Stillmaker & Kelly Mullarkey, founders of majestic disorder; Cedric Bardawil, art curator, writer and DJ; and Chris Kontos, photographer and editor at Kennedy Magazine.

02

— We hosted a virtual party in collaboration with Transit Records, showcasing the best of leftfield dance music from around the world.
